Ingredients

Units Scale
  • For the Rolls:
  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (smooth)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
  • For Cooking:
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • For the Dipping Sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Peanut Filling: In a bowl, mix together peanut butter, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, garlic, and rice vinegar until smooth.
  2. Assemble the Rolls: Lay out the thinly sliced beef pieces flat on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the peanut filling onto the center of each slice of beef. Add a small amount of shredded carrots, chopped green onions, and cilantro on top of the peanut filling.
  3. Roll up each piece of beef tightly, securing the filling inside the beef roll.
  4. Cook the Rolls: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the beef rolls and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until the beef is browned and cooked through. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan; you may need to cook the rolls in batches.
  5. Prepare the Dipping Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, and chili flakes (if using) until well combined.
  6. Serve: Once the rolls are cooked, remove them from the skillet and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve the peanut beef rolls warm with the dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

  • You can substitute the beef with chicken or pork if preferred.
  • For extra crunch, add sliced cucumbers or bell peppers into the rolls.
  • If you like a bit of heat, add more chili flakes to the dipping sauce.
