Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks are a healthier and quicker version of the classic deep-fried appetizer. Coated in breadcrumbs and seasoned perfectly, these mozzarella sticks are crispy on the outside and melty on the inside. Using the air fryer allows for a crispy texture without the excess oil, making it a great option for a light snack or party appetizer.

Ingredients

– 12 mozzarella sticks

– 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

– 2 large eggs, beaten

– 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)

– 1/2 tsp garlic powder

– 1/2 tsp onion powder

– 1/2 tsp dried oregano

– 1/4 tsp salt

– 1/4 tsp pepper

– Cooking spray

– Marinara sauce for dipping (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

2. Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls. Place flour in the first bowl, beaten eggs in the second, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper in the third.

3. Dip each mozzarella stick into the flour, then the egg, and finally the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to coat well.

4. Arrange the breaded mozzarella sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t touch each other.

5. Lightly spray the sticks with cooking spray to help them crisp up.

6. Air fry the mozzarella sticks for 6-8 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

7. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

– Make sure to freeze the mozzarella sticks for at least 30 minutes before air frying to prevent the cheese from melting too quickly.

– You can use store-bought marinara sauce or make your own for dipping.

– For extra crispiness, double coat the mozzarella sticks by dipping them in the egg and breadcrumbs twice.
