  • 12 oz egg noodles, cooked and drained
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Prepare the Meat Sauce:

    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned.
    • Add onion and garlic, sauté until fragrant.
    • Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
    • Let simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
  • Mix the Creamy Layer:

    • In a bowl, combine sour cream, cottage cheese, and melted butter.
  • Assemble the Casserole:

    • Spread half the cooked noodles in the baking dish.
    • Top with half the meat sauce, then half the creamy mixture.
    • Repeat layers, finishing with shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese on top.
  • Bake:

    • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
    • Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Serve:

    • Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
