Black Sesame – Coconut Candy is a sweet and nutty treat made with toasted black sesame seeds and shredded coconut, bound together by a honey and sugar syrup. This crunchy yet chewy candy is perfect for snacking or as a homemade gift.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup black sesame seeds, toasted
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Toast the black sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine honey, sugar, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture reaches a simmer.
  3. Add the toasted sesame seeds, shredded coconut, vanilla extract, and salt to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.
  4. Continue to cook for another 3-5 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken slightly.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a lined baking dish or silicone mold, pressing it firmly to spread evenly.
  6. Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 1-2 hours to firm up.
  7. Once firm, cut into small squares or bars and serve. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • You can add a handful of chopped nuts like almonds or cashews for extra crunch and flavor.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar, depending on your preference.
