This Bread Dipping Oil is a delightful blend of herbs and spices mixed with high-quality olive oil, perfect for serving with crusty bread as an appetizer or snack. Inspired by restaurant-style dips, it’s easy to prepare and full of flavor.
– 1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic (2-3 large cloves)
– 1 tablespoon dried oregano
– 1 tablespoon dried basil
– 1 tablespoon dried parsley
– 2 teaspoons onion powder
– 2 teaspoons freshly cracked black pepper
– 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
– 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
– 1 teaspoon dried thyme
– 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
– Extra virgin olive oil
– Optional: 1 tablespoon freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1. In a small bowl, combine all the dry ingredients: oregano, basil, parsley, onion powder, black pepper, red pepper flakes, kosher salt, thyme, rosemary, and garlic powder.
2. Add the minced fresh garlic to the mixture.
3. When ready to serve, mix 1 tablespoon of the prepared herb and spice mixture with about ½ cup of extra virgin olive oil.
4. If desired, stir in 1 tablespoon of freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
5. Serve immediately with crusty bread.
6. Store any remaining dry herb and spice mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. If omitting fresh garlic, the mixture can be stored in the pantry for up to six months.
– For longer storage, omit the fresh garlic and add it just before serving. This allows the dry mix to be stored at room temperature for up to six months.
– For a milder garlic flavor, omit the fresh garlic and increase the garlic powder to 1 teaspoon.
– This dipping oil pairs well with a splash of high-quality balsamic vinegar for added depth of flavor.
