This Caramel Frosting is rich, buttery, and perfectly sweet, making it the ideal topping for cakes, cupcakes, or cookies. Made with real caramelized sugar, butter, and cream, it has a smooth, creamy texture and a deep caramel flavor.

Ingredients

– 1 cup (200g) brown sugar, packed

– 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter

– 1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream

– 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

– 2 cups (240g) powdered sugar, sifted

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. **Make the caramel base:**

– In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar.

– Cook, stirring continuously, until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture becomes smooth (about 2-3 minutes).

2. **Add the cream:**

– Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring.

– Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and cook for 1 minute.

– Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.

3. **Cool the caramel:**

– Let the caramel mixture cool slightly for about 10 minutes.

4. **Whip the frosting:**

– Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, gradually beat in the powdered sugar until the frosting is smooth and fluffy.

5. **Adjust consistency (if needed):**

– If the frosting is too thick, add a tablespoon of cream.

– If too thin, add more powdered sugar.

6. **Use immediately:**

– Spread over cakes, cupcakes, or cookies while slightly warm for a smooth finish.

Notes

– If the frosting hardens, warm it slightly and stir until smooth again.

– This frosting sets quickly, so spread it while it’s still warm.

– For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or a teaspoon of maple syrup.

– Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the fridge for up to a week.
