- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
- 1/4 cup hot pepper jelly

- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

- In a bowl, mix shredded cheddar, butter, flour, salt, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne (if using).
- Stir until the dough comes together. If too crumbly, knead gently with your hands.

Shape the Thumbprints:
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the baking sheet, about 1 inch apart.
- Press your thumb or the back of a spoon into the center of each ball to create a small indentation.

- Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly.

- Spoon about ½ teaspoon of hot pepper jelly into the center of each thumbprint.
