Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional, e.g., walnuts or pecans)
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy (optional, e.g., M&M’s, toffee bits, or peppermint)

Instructions

  • Prepare the pan: Line an 8×8-inch or 9×9-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
  • Melt the chocolate mixture: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Stir continuously until smooth and fully melted.
  • Add flavor: Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and salt. Mix in chopped nuts or candy pieces if using.
  • Transfer to pan: Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly with a spatula.
  • Chill: Refrigerate for at least 2–3 hours, or until firm.
  • Cut and serve: Once set, lift the fudge out of the pan using the parchment paper and cut it into small squares.

Notes

  • For a softer fudge, let it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes before cutting.
  • Swap out semi-sweet chocolate for dark or milk chocolate depending on your preference.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
