Description

These Crunchy Cheesy Onion Crisps deliver a savory, satisfying crunch that combines the natural sweetness of thinly sliced onions with melted cheddar and Parmesan cheeses. Perfect as an appetizer or a side snack, they’re easy to prepare and full of bold, cheesy flavor!

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Crisps:

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced into rings
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs

For Garnish (Optional):

  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  • Preheat & Prepare:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Season the Onions:
In a large bowl, toss the thinly sliced onions with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until evenly coated.

  • Assemble the Crisps:
Arrange the onion slices in a single layer on the baking sheet. Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan over the onions, then top with panko breadcrumbs to add extra crunch.

  • Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes or until the edges are golden and crisp. Keep an eye on them as oven times may vary.

  • Garnish & Serve:
Remove from the oven, sprinkle with chopped parsley (if using), and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, ensure your onion slices are uniformly thin.
  • Adjust seasonings to taste, and try adding a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy twist.
  • Best enjoyed fresh; store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 1 day.
