Ingredients

Units Scale

For the S’mores:

8 graham crackers (halved if you prefer smaller portions)

8 large marshmallows

8 squares (or pieces) of milk chocolate (or your favorite chocolate bar)

For the Batter:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 egg

3/4 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Frying:

Vegetable oil (for deep frying)

Optional Garnishes:

Powdered sugar for dusting

Chocolate or caramel sauce for drizzling

Instructions

  • Assemble the S’mores:

    • Place a marshmallow and a square of chocolate between two graham cracker halves to form a sandwich. If desired, secure the edges with a toothpick to hold them together.
  • Prepare the Batter:

    • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    • In another bowl, beat the egg with the milk and vanilla extract.
    • Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth. Do not overmix.
  • Heat the Oil:

    • Pour vegetable oil into a deep-fryer or a deep, heavy skillet to a depth of about 2 inches. Heat the oil to 375°F (190°C).
  • Dip & Fry:

    • Working in batches, dip each s’more sandwich into the batter, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
    • Carefully lower the battered s’mores into the hot oil. Fry for about 2–3 minutes per side or until the batter turns golden brown and crispy.
    • Remove the s’mores with a slotted spoon and let them drain on paper towels.
  • Serve:

    • Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate or caramel sauce, if desired. Enjoy immediately while the centers are still melty and warm.

Notes

  • For best results, work quickly with the batter to keep the marshmallows from melting too much before frying.
  • You can customize by using dark chocolate, adding a sprinkle of sea salt on top, or even trying mini versions for bite-sized treats.
  • Be cautious with the hot oil and ensure deep-frying safety by not overcrowding the pan.
