- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 1/4 cups warm water (110°F)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup olive oil, divided
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tablespoon dried)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt flakes for topping (optional)
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, and 1/4 cup olive oil. Mix until a dough forms. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Grease a baking pan with olive oil and press the dough into it. Let rise again for 20–30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Use your fingers to dimple the dough. Drizzle remaining 1/4 cup olive oil over the top.
- In a small saucepan, melt butter and sauté minced garlic for 1–2 minutes. Stir in parsley and oregano.
- Brush garlic butter mixture over the dough. Sprinkle with salt flakes if desired.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use fresh garlic for best flavor, but garlic powder can be substituted in a pinch.
- Try topping with shredded mozzarella or parmesan before baking for a cheesy twist.
- Leftovers can be reheated in the oven to regain crispness.
