Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup olive oil, divided
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tablespoon dried)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt flakes for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and 1/4 cup olive oil. Mix until a dough forms. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Grease a baking pan with olive oil and press the dough into it. Let rise again for 20–30 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Use your fingers to dimple the dough. Drizzle remaining 1/4 cup olive oil over the top.
  7. In a small saucepan, melt butter and sauté minced garlic for 1–2 minutes. Stir in parsley and oregano.
  8. Brush garlic butter mixture over the dough. Sprinkle with salt flakes if desired.
  9. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic for best flavor, but garlic powder can be substituted in a pinch.
  • Try topping with shredded mozzarella or parmesan before baking for a cheesy twist.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in the oven to regain crispness.
