These Ground Chicken Nuggets are a healthier alternative to store-bought nuggets, made with lean ground chicken and a crispy, golden coating. Perfect for kids and adults alike, they are baked or air-fried for a lighter yet delicious meal or snack.

Ingredients

– 1 lb (450g) ground chicken

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

– 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

– 1/2 teaspoon paprika

– 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

– 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

– 1/2 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs

– 1 large egg

– 1 tablespoon olive oil

– 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs (for coating)

– 1/4 cup milk (optional, for moisture)

– Cooking spray or additional olive oil (for baking or air frying)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. If using an air fryer, preheat it to 180°C (360°F).

2. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, oregano, Parmesan cheese (if using), whole wheat breadcrumbs, egg, and olive oil. Mix well until evenly combined.

3. If the mixture is too dry, add a bit of milk to keep it moist.

4. Shape the mixture into small nugget-sized pieces using your hands or a spoon.

5. Coat each nugget by rolling it in panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently so the crumbs adhere well.

6. Place the nuggets on the prepared baking sheet or in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray with cooking spray or brush with olive oil for crispiness.

7. **Baking method**: Bake for 18-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.

8. **Air fryer method**: Cook for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway, until golden and crispy.

9. Let the nuggets cool for a couple of minutes before serving with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

– For extra crispiness, double-coat the nuggets in panko breadcrumbs.

– Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.

– Reheat in an oven or air fryer to keep them crispy.

– Serve with ketchup, honey mustard, or a yogurt-based dipping sauce.
