Ingredients

– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 1 cup granulated sugar

– 2 large eggs

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the glaze (optional):

– 1 cup powdered sugar

– 2-3 tablespoons milk

– 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.

4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just incorporated. Do not overmix.

6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden and the centers are still soft and cake-like.

8. Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

9. If using the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled cookies.
