Pan Fried Cod Fish is a simple and delicious dish where cod fillets are seasoned and pan-fried to perfection. With a crispy golden exterior and tender, flaky interior, this dish makes for a healthy and easy-to-make meal that pairs well with vegetables, salads, or rice.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 cod fillets (around 6 oz each)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter (for frying)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cod: Pat the cod fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides of the fillets with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  2. Dredge in Flour: Lightly coat each fillet with flour, shaking off any excess.
  3. Heat the Pan: Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the cod fillets to the pan.
  4. Pan-Fry the Cod: Cook the fillets for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. The fish should flake easily when tested with a fork.
  5. Finish and Serve: Once cooked, drizzle the fish with fresh lemon juice and garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can use olive oil instead of butter.
  • Make sure the pan is hot before adding the fish to get a crispy crust.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
