A classic comfort dish featuring crispy, golden-fried potatoes and sweet, caramelized onions. Perfect for a hearty breakfast or as a savory side dish, this hash combines simple ingredients with aromatic herbs and spices to create a delicious and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

– 4 medium potatoes, diced into small cubes

– 2 medium onions, thinly sliced

– 2-3 tablespoons olive oil (or butter)

– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

– Salt, to taste

– Black pepper, to taste

– 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

1. Rinse and peel the potatoes (if desired), then dice them into evenly sized cubes.

2. Thinly slice the onions.

3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

4. Add the diced potatoes to the skillet and season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

5. Cook the potatoes for about 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally until they start to turn golden.

6. Add the sliced onions to the skillet and continue cooking for an additional 10–13 minutes, or until the onions become soft and caramelized and the potatoes are crispy on the edges.

7. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.

8. Remove from heat, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve hot.

Notes

For an extra crisp texture, soak the potato cubes in cold water for 30 minutes before frying, then pat them dry thoroughly. You can also add a pinch of paprika or crushed red pepper flakes for a subtle kick.
