Spicy Shrimp Fra Diavolo with Linguine is a bold and flavorful Italian-American dish featuring tender shrimp in a fiery tomato-based sauce. Infused with garlic, red pepper flakes, and white wine, this dish is perfect for spice lovers. Serve it over al dente linguine for a restaurant-quality meal at home.

Ingredients

– 12 oz linguine

– 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

– 2 tbsp olive oil

– 4 cloves garlic, minced

– 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

– 1/2 cup white wine

– 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes

– 1 tsp dried oregano

– 1/2 tsp salt

– 1/4 tsp black pepper

– 1/2 tsp sugar (optional, to balance acidity)

– 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped

– 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

– 1 tbsp butter (optional, for richness)

– Grated Parmesan, for serving

Instructions

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the linguine according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

3. Add the remaining olive oil to the same skillet, followed by the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

4. Pour in the white wine, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for 2 minutes until slightly reduced.

5. Add the crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar (if using). Stir well and let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to develop.

6. Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes.

7. Stir in the fresh basil, parsley, and butter (if using).

8. Toss the cooked linguine with the sauce until well combined.

9. Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan and additional fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

– Adjust the red pepper flakes to control the spice level.

– Use fresh or frozen shrimp, but make sure to pat them dry before cooking.

– A splash of lemon juice before serving enhances the flavor.

– Serve with crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
