Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then add eggs one by one, beating well after each addition.
- Mix in vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the cake flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk until combined.
- Divide the batter into three bowls. Color each bowl of batter with different amounts of pureed strawberries to create ombre layers.
- Grease and flour cake pans, then pour each colored batter into separate pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool before transferring them to a wire rack.
- Make the strawberry filling by cooking fresh strawberries and sugar in a saucepan until jammy.
- Assemble the cake by layering the darkest pink layer first, followed by strawberry filling, then the lighter pink and vanilla layers. Frost with buttercream and enjoy!
